Why it is free

Webshot is made by Betterlogic. It is free because a capture tool earns its place by being the one you reach for, and a price or a signup wall gets in the way of that. There is no growth team behind it and no plan to upsell you later.

If that ever changes, the version you have stays free, and the change is announced here and in the changelog before it happens.

No account, no telemetry

Free often means paid for with data. Webshot does not do that either. There is no account, no analytics and no usage tracking, and your captures are saved on your device unless you choose an upload or share option. The Trust page lists exactly what the extension can see and what it never sends.

Questions about free

Is there a paid plan I have not seen?

No. There is one version of Webshot and it is the free one. Nothing on the site or in the extension is gated behind a price.

Is there a watermark, a time limit or a resolution cap?

No. Exports are the full capture at full resolution, and recordings run as long as you let them.

Do I need an account?

No. Install the extension and use it. There is nothing to sign up for, so there is no login and no password to lose.

Then how do you make money from it?

Today we do not. Webshot is built by Betterlogic, and it is free because a capture tool works best when it is the one people reach for. If that ever changes, the free version stays free and the change is announced on this page and in the changelog first.

Is anything sold or shared instead?

No. Webshot has no telemetry and collects no usage data, so there is nothing to sell. Your captures are saved on your device unless you choose an upload or share option.
