Webshot for Edge

Edge runs the same Chromium engine and the same Webshot package as Chrome, so nothing is missing: every capture mode, every recording source, audio, the camera bubble and Auto Zoom. The only Edge-specific part is which store you install from, and you have two.

Install from the Microsoft Edge Add-ons

  1. Open Webshot on Microsoft Edge Add-ons. Use the button above. Edge Add-ons is Microsoft's own catalogue and installs without any settings change.
  2. Click Get, then Add extension. Edge lists the permissions before it installs: the tab you capture, your Downloads folder and screen recording. Accept and the icon appears in the toolbar area.
  3. Show the icon on the toolbar. Open the Extensions menu (the puzzle piece next to the address bar) and click the eye icon beside Webshot so it stays visible.
  4. Learn the shortcuts. Ctrl+Shift+V captures the visible area, Ctrl+Shift+F the full page, and Alt+Shift+R starts a recording, all set by default. Rebind them under Keyboard shortcuts in Webshot settings, opened from the popup menu.

Or install from the Chrome Web Store

  1. Allow extensions from other stores. Open edge://extensions, and turn on Allow extensions from other stores in the left-hand panel. Edge asks once.
  2. Open the Chrome Web Store listing. Search for Webshot - Screenshot & Screen Recorder by Betterlogic. It is the same extension as the one on Edge Add-ons.
  3. Click Add to Chrome. The button keeps its Chrome label inside Edge. Confirm the permissions and Edge installs it like any other extension.

How Webshot works in Edge

Full-page screenshots on Edge

Scrolling pages are captured top to bottom into one image, including Edge's own reading-view pages. Visible area, selected area, single element and delayed capture are all on the Capture tab, and the desktop screenshot uses Edge's screen picker.

Extract Text without a cloud service

Select part of a page and the words come out as text you can paste. The recogniser is bundled with the extension and runs locally, which matters on managed work machines where cloud OCR tools are blocked.

Desktop and window recording

Edge's share dialog lets you pick a monitor, an application window or a browser tab. Choose a window to record Teams or Outlook alongside a page.

This Tab recording

Records the active tab directly with no picker and no prompt. Edge keeps the recording running when you switch tabs or minimise the window.

Region recording

Draw a box on the page and only that box is recorded. Handy for one widget inside a busy Power BI or SharePoint layout.

Camera-only clips

Record just the webcam when you want a quick face-to-camera message without any screen content.

Camera bubble

Your camera sits over the page as a movable bubble that is baked into the saved video. For a whole-monitor recording Edge moves it into a picture-in-picture window so it follows you outside the browser.

Microphone

Pick any input Edge can see, including headsets managed by Teams. The popup warns if the chosen microphone is producing silence.

Tab and system audio

Tab recording captures the tab's own sound in sync. For desktop recording, tick Share system audio in Edge's picker and the whole mix is included.

Auto Zoom

Click positions are logged during a tab recording and the editor zooms toward them automatically, so a walkthrough of a dense admin console stays readable.

Questions about Webshot on Edge

Is the Edge Add-ons version different from the Chrome one?

No. Both stores receive the same package from the same build. Pick whichever store you are already signed in to; updates arrive from the store you installed from.

Does Webshot work on Edge for Business or a managed profile?

It works wherever your administrator allows extensions. If the store buttons are greyed out, extension installs are blocked by policy and an administrator has to allow Webshot's id.

Can I record a Teams call from Edge?

Yes, as a desktop or window recording with system audio ticked in the picker. Make sure the other participants agree to being recorded.

Where do recordings and screenshots go in Edge?

Into the Downloads folder Edge is configured to use, with a timestamped name. Screenshots can also be copied to the clipboard instead of saved.

Does Webshot support Edge on macOS and Linux?

Yes. The extension is the same on every desktop platform Edge ships on. Edge on iOS and Android cannot run extensions.

Using a different browser?

Get Webshot for Edge, from either store.

Everything Chrome gets, in the browser your work machine already has. No account, no upload, no watermark.
