How do I capture outside the browser?
Desktop Screenshot opens the browser's picker so you can capture your whole screen, one window or another tab, then hands the image to the editor like any capture.
The other capture modes see only the current page. Desktop Screenshot can see anything on your screen.

From the tools list, or press Ctrl+Alt+D.
Pick what to capture
The browser shows its screen picker with three tabs: your entire screen, a single window, or a browser tab. Choose one and confirm.
Done
The frame is captured immediately and follows your After Capture setting.
Why the browser asks every time
The picker is a browser safeguard, not a Webshot setting: an extension cannot read the screen without you choosing what to share each time.
On Firefox
Firefox shows a Start Capture step in the page first, then its own picker.
