How do I recover a recording that was not saved?

Usually yes. Open the popup: if the recording is still in storage, Webshot offers to recover it or finish importing it. Recording Lost means no part of it survived.

Recordings are written to storage as they run, so most interruptions leave something to recover.

The three prompts you may see

  • Finish importing your recording means the recording stopped normally but the editor never confirmed it had everything. Choose Open editor to try again, or Discard.
  • Recording Not Saved means the recording was interrupted, by a closed tab, a closed browser or an extension update. Choose Recover Recording to finalise what was captured, or Discard.
  • Recording Lost means the storage holds nothing usable. Only OK is offered.

Avoiding it next time

  • Leave the recorder tab open until it closes itself.
  • Keep the editor tab open until the video appears in it.
  • Free up disk space if you record long sessions; a full disk stops the writing.

Still missing

If none of the prompts appears and the recording is gone, email support with your browser and extension version. The address is on the support page.
