What can I record?

Four sources: This Tab, a custom region of this tab, your Desktop (a screen, window or another tab), or the Camera alone. Add a mic and camera bubble to any.

Open the popup on the Record tab and pick a source at the top.

Sources

  • This Tab records the current page. It is the source that supports tab sound and Auto Zoom.
  • Custom (This Tab) records a rectangle you drag over the page.
  • Desktop opens the browser's picker so you can record your whole screen, one window, or another tab.
  • Camera records only your webcam, for a talking-head clip.

Starting and stopping

Press Start, or use Alt+Shift+R on the page. A countdown runs, then the floating control bar appears. Stop from the bar or with Ctrl+Shift+X. See How do I pause, stop or discard a recording?.

Quality

Preferences sets Video Quality (720p, 1080p or 4K; 720p by default) and Frame Rate (30 or 60). Higher settings make larger files.

On Firefox

Only Desktop and Camera are available, and there is no tab sound. See What is different on Firefox?.
